A Day in My Life at 43: Getting Back Into My Routine
Sometimes you don’t realize how much you’ve got going on until you actually sit down and start talking about it.
That’s pretty much what happened in my latest vlog.
I woke up feeling a little off. Not necessarily in a bad mood, but my energy just wasn’t where I wanted it to be. I’ve had quite a few things going on lately, and I think I was allowing some of those things to weigh on me more than they needed to.
So instead of sitting around the house thinking about everything I needed to do, I decided to grab my camera, get out of the house, and take y’all along with me.
Nothing fancy. Just a regular day in my life at 43.

Sometimes You Just Need to Get Out of the House
One thing I’ve noticed about myself is that when I’m not moving my body consistently, I don’t always feel like myself.
I’ve been a little inconsistent with my workout routine lately, and I think that’s been affecting my energy.
So I decided to head over to the YMCA in Riverside, Jacksonville, and get a little workout in.
Nothing too complicated.
I walked along the Riverwalk for about 30 minutes, spent some time in the sauna, and did a few upper-body exercises using the weight machines.
And you know what?
I felt better afterward.
Not because anything in my life had necessarily changed, but because I had taken some time to do something for myself.
Sometimes that’s really all you need.
Buying a House, Managing a Rental, and Feeling a Little Overwhelmed
If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’ve been working on purchasing another house.
And while I’m excited about the possibilities, I’m also trying to be mindful of my finances.
There are inspections, appraisals, repairs, and all the other expenses that come along with buying a home.
I was actually talking about this in the vlog because I realized that some of the pressure I’ve been feeling is pressure I’ve been putting on myself.
The funny thing is, I have options.
If this house purchase doesn’t work out, I still have another house I can move into. It wouldn’t necessarily be my first choice, but it’s an option.
And sometimes I think we get so focused on how we want something to happen that we forget there are other ways things can work out.
I’m also still deciding what I want to do with my rental property.
Do I rent the entire house to one tenant? Do I continue renting individual rooms?
There are advantages to both, but I’m trying to make decisions that support the kind of life I actually want to live.
Because at this point in my life, I’m not interested in creating more work for myself just to make more money.
I want my investments to eventually give me more freedom, not take it away.
Motherhood Looks a Little Different When Your Child Is Almost Grown
Another thing I talked about in this vlog was my son.
He’s getting ready to turn 18, and we’re entering a completely different stage of motherhood.
I’m learning that sometimes I have to let him figure things out for himself.
That doesn’t mean I stop being his mom. It just means I have to give him more opportunities to become responsible for his own decisions.
We’ve been having conversations about college, work, money, investing, and what he wants to do after graduation.
One thing I’m really trying to teach him is that he doesn’t necessarily have to follow the traditional path of going into debt to get an education.
There are other options.
He can learn a trade, attend college, start a business, or explore a combination of those things.
My goal is to help him understand his options so he can make informed decisions about his future.
And while I’m helping him figure out his next chapter, I’m also figuring out mine.
Funny how that works.
Making a Little Extra Money Along the Way
Of course, I also had my delivery apps turned on.
I’ve been experimenting with gig work through platforms like Instacart and Walmart Spark, and one thing I appreciate about these apps is the flexibility.
I can decide when I want to work, which orders I want to accept, and how much time I want to spend doing deliveries.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to spend all day driving around Jacksonville delivering groceries.
But if I’m already out running errands and there’s an order nearby that makes sense, why not?
It’s another way to bring in a little extra money without committing to a traditional work schedule.
And that’s really what I’ve been exploring lately: different ways to earn income while maintaining control over my time.
In the vlog, I share a little of what that looks like on an ordinary day.
Getting Back to Myself
By the time I finished my workout, I was already feeling better than I had earlier that morning.
And I think that’s what I needed more than anything.
A little movement. Some fresh air. Time to think. And an opportunity to talk through some of the things that had been on my mind.
I’ve always enjoyed journaling, and I’m realizing that vlogging can be another form of journaling for me.
Sometimes I’m documenting what I’m doing, and other times I’m just talking through what I’m experiencing.
I don’t necessarily have a lesson to teach in every video.
Sometimes I’m just living my life and sharing the journey.
And I’m okay with that.
Come Spend the Day With Me
If you enjoy realistic day-in-the-life vlogs, conversations about motherhood, money, personal growth, and figuring out life after 40, I think you’ll enjoy this one.
We’re heading to the gym, talking about buying a house, discussing my son’s future, and doing a little gig work along the way.
It’s a regular day, but it’s also a reminder that we don’t have to have everything figured out to enjoy where we are right now.
